Basant Panchami, also known as Saraswati Puja, is one of the auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. The day is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Saraswati. This festival is also known as Shree Panchami and rings in the arrival of the spring season. This day is very auspicious for students and teachers.

Basant Panchami is referred to as the day of the beginning of life and the arrival of happiness. It is the season when fields of crop and fruits start ripening, giving a yellow coat to the Mother Nature.

Goddess Saraswati was created by Lord Brahma and is also known as Vaak-Devi, the Goddess of Speech. Hence, this festival marks the birth of the Goddess and is an opportunity to seek wisdom and wealth of knowledge.

On this day, Goddess Sarawati is endowed with the yellow-coloured clothes. Yellow represents sattva guna and symbolises purity, prosperity and love. Hence, it is the most prominent feature on this festival of Basant Panchami.
